Personalized Wedding Details & Quirky Color Schemes

I think it’s all the “little” things that make the wedding special.  People always see gorgeous floral arrangements at each wedding.. but it’s the little details planned meticulously ahead of time that make a wedding memorable.

I am SO beyond lucky that I know how to use Photoshop & Adobe InDesign (think Illustrator but for printed materials) and have InDesign to help me design cute details for the wedding.  Here’s a sneak preview of something you are sure to see gracing the guest book table.  Probably in a cute white frame:

I need to design some other little details to put on display.

I’m pouring through MarthaStewartWeddings for details and 100LayerCake, StyleMePretty and stuff for inspiration.  Will share as the design process goes along!

Alsoo… since InDesign and I are BFFs, I am designing the wedding invitations for wedding #2.   Cannot wait to post how it will look!  It’s going to be super cute, simple, modern yet elegant.  We are thinking of doing a pewter and yellow color scheme for that one, cannot wait to see how different the two weddings will be!

Here’s a pic of inspiration for the color scheme for the Macedonian wedding (taken from this Style Me Pretty feature)
Love the way the groom is wearing a gray suit with a yellow boutt!

My Wedding Dress Arrived….

Sooo I’m pretty excited about this but my wedding dress (a gharara) from Pakistan got in 2 weeks ago!

I ordered it based off a photo, and the colors are spot on and look incredibly beautiful.  That was my biggest nightmare…. the colors looking off and not good.  Thankfully, the colors are JUST what I wanted and I could not be happier.

I just don’t know what to do about a couple of things on the outfit.  I’ve only shown it to like three people, and they all like it, but I’m having issues with the top.  I think it needs more embroidery.  I don’t know… I just told my mom and she just told me that she doesn’t want to send it back.  I don’t know what to do!! We spent a lot of money and I don’t think it’s BAD, it is just NOT what I expected.  I had a different idea in mind for the embroidery on the top and the photo reflected that too… but the outfit doesn’t have it.

Those are the risks you take when you order based on a photo.   I just realized that we spent as much as I probably would have ordering directly from another designer.

Maybe I’m just stressing, and don’t get me wrong, I LOVE my outfit.  I really truly do.  Just not sure what to do.

😦

Oh also! My dress for the Macedonian event is ready!!!  YAY!  I have to pick it up this weekend.

Unique Engagement Photography Ideas… Have Any Suggestions?

This is something that I probably should have done months ago, and of course, I put this off to the last minute.  I only scheduled it so late because we want to make it unique, and seeing all these fantastic engagement shoots on various wedding websites really intimidated me!  The wedding planning I have down… engagement shoots are a whole other thing to conquer!  Anyway, I’m most excited to actually have professional photos taken ahead of the wedding so I can feel comfortable in front of the camera.

We are just going to schedule our engagement photo shoot for a few weeks from now, so it just makes me work harder to get everything set, like our outfits, hair, makeup, and theme!

Yes, I said theme!  Some people go all out for their engagement shoot, I’ve seen the most unique and cute things… so hard to compete with all these adorable, happy couples.

Here’s a really cute French-inspired Engagement photo from StyleMePretty: (photography by The Wedding Artists Collective)

Cute huh? Love the vintage feel, the stunning background (maybe a museum?) and their French-inspired outfits.

Now this couple did a cute drag-racing engagement shoot (how they come up with this ideas is beyond me!)

Her outfit is adorable and this concept is just too cute!!

And here’s another kind of more normal engagement shoot.. it’s a “date” engagement shoot, kind of think it’s cute:
and then there is this ADORABLE vintage engagement shoot that was featured on 100layercake that was clearly well-planned, has cute scrabble pieces and a little suitcase, love!!  They got all dressed up too and managed not to look tacky even though they were in costume.

I love all the little details above!  I want a shoot with little details like this for mine & Nick’s.

Some people, like this adorable couple, keep it simple with a little picnic on a blanket and adorable photos.  Less is more.  Not entirely sure it’s what I would want to do with Nick though.  Anyone who knows me knows that  I will be going with a box filled with props!

As you can see, we have so much to think about and plan… do you have any suggestions or comments?  I have my hands full with wedding planning and now this!!

I’m combing through blogs for ideas and inspiration for everything, and now am trying to find an engagement session worthy of these style blogs!  Help with details! ❤
