GREEEN…..ack!!!

I don’t know if many of you know this about me, but I absolutely HATE the color green.  Look through your photos of me that you’ve taken with me… you will never see me wearing green.  It just does not happen.  For some reason or another, I hate the color of grass, leaves, whatever.  I like minty green or bright green in moderation, but I truly hate the color green.  So imagine my dismay when the newsletter I look forward to EVERY DAY (it counts down to my wannabe wedding date and gives me GREAT wedding tips) is titled “Color Palette: Green”  I about vomited when I saw that.  EW.  Green.  Green.  YUCK.

So, to all my wedding guests, you will not see green (except in leaves and flower stems).  To my bridesmaids: when we get together Thursday, I won’t make you wear green, don’t worry.   I like turquoise, and varying shades of green, but no green please.  EEEK

Apparently green has lots of positive symbolism, but honestly, green… no.  Read the article here:  http://www.projectwedding.com/wedding-ideas/wedding-palette-green

Also!!  The wedding dress I love and have seen photos of online has a contrast effect with olive green so I have to tell my dress maker to change it to all one color of the main color I want (secret secret).  I think I am going to order my dress soon so that my little brother can bring it with him in December.  I also plan on having my invitation cards made by December too because I’ll send them out three months before the wedding (March/April).  I think we should order the bridesmaids dresses soon too (they would only take a month to make) so that they are here by December too.  Or else those can wait til June.   I don’t mind either way.  I think maybe I’d wait til spring and have my outfit delivered in June just to see what the latest Pakistani fashion is, but I think the style I’ve had my eye on is here to stay til next June I hope!

I have so much to decide on!! I think I am just going to go with the color scheme I keep going back to and just eenie-meenie-miney-mo my dress because I love em both (that’s a joke, I will talk to my girls and choose it that way!).  I am also SUPER PISSED because the designer I want to use is not returning my e-mails and he is booked months in advanced and I’m not sure I’ll get my dream designer gown! 😦   He is great at playing with colors and I love that about him.  Lucky for me, the boutique I use is fabulous and will create something lovely I’m sure.  Just no Nomi Ansari gown.  *sigh*
anyways we’ll see!   SO much to do and I would love to get it done sooner than later!  June will creep on me like nothing!

also trying to decide on whether or not I should hire a wedding planner…. ahh

Ringless Bride

I don’t have an engagement ring.  I just thought I’d put that out there.  My future mother-in-law talked to me yesterday and we had a good laugh about Nick’s lameness for not getting me a ring yet.  I don’t know what’s going on but I am getting SO impatient!!  Every time I see him I think he is going to surprise me with a ring, but he hasn’t yet!  I thought he would have at least have it ordered but that wasn’t the case… he told me he hasn’t yet ordered the ring which makes me sad.  His reasoning is good though– he wants it to be perfect.  Did I mention he is custom ordering it?  I guess that’s worth the wait.

But man, I am freakin IMPATIENT!!!  I know what I want.  Anyway I’m really excited to go ring shopping with Nick & the future mother-in-law next Saturday.  She seriously said, “how did you say YES without the ring?”  Lol  She’s right, because I don’t think I’ll be as excited when I get it because by now I’m expecting the diamond.  I also expect it to be super amazing since I’ve been waiting so long for it!  I also won’t have a fabulous proposal story to share which makes me sad.  I’ve always imagined my proposal and I guess I’ll just keep fantasizing about it.

I am going to make sure we go to Paris for our honeymoon now.   🙂  He owes me.  I was thinking a Mediterranean Cruise & Paris but that’s overkill.  The Cruise will be saved for another trip!

Engaged and Planning The Dream Wedding!

I’m engaged!! It’s so exciting to be planning mine & Nick’s wedding… I am the bride who definitely wants to plan way in advanced so I’ve been looking at different ideas forever and am excited to finally put them to use!  I have a million and one ideas and only one day to celebrate it!  That’s the problem with being as creative as me.

I met with this florist last week who was really great and completely understood me… but if you saw his prices you might faint!! I was honestly shocked when he told me the price of one tall centerpiece would be almost $300!!  It was a lovely centerpiece, but I am going to have 300-350 guests so that would be 30-35 tables… so more than $9,000 just for flowers is NOT ok.  So I was thinking of splitting them up, having some tall centerpieces and some short.  Or, I can just go with another florist altogether.  My budget-less cousin used him for her wedding last summer and his work is impeccable.  While I think his smaller centerpieces are a great price, I just wonder if I can get a similar quality and look at a smaller price with another florist.  I need to visit bridal fairs to see other florists’ work.  One thing that was fantastic about my appointment with him was that it solidified my theme.   No way in hell am I sharing my theme online though… I’ll tell you guys in secret.  It’s THAT good.  I am guarding this thing.  Or, I may just keep it a surprise until the wedding day!  We’ll see 🙂

So the other things on my stress out list of the dream wedding is my outfit (I have finally narrowed it down to TWO!), my wedding venue (we are visiting one this Saturday and I’ve inquired a about a few others) so we should have it done soon.  The one this Saturday is beautiful and newly renovated, however it may be a bit out of the way for some of my guests and Nick worries about that too.  The prices are great, but today I looked into two other hotels and was pleasantly surprised at their rates!  We’ll see.  I’ve come to the conclusion that all ballrooms look exactly the same and it truly matters how the ballroom is decorated.  I am willing to put more money towards decor than  on the venue.   Since my wedding will have over 300 people, I am not concerned about having a wedding on the beach at some fancy resort like the St. Regis or the Montage.

Keep posted for more wedding updates!!
